Service is Everything
SW Group Logistics (SWGL) realises that service is key to winning new customers whilst retaining existing ones. SWGL are a third party warehousing and distribution company operating from 3 locations out of Swindon and Telford. They have transitioned from a transport company into a highly successful 3rd party logistics operator. They performs complex automotive logistics for Honda UKs 1st tier suppliers, making trackside deliveries of production-ready parts for such global organisations as Yazaki, Parker Hannifin and Panasonic.

One of the key strategies which has seen SWGL evolve from a transport company to a 3rd party logistics operator is its increasing application of technology to manage and drive the business. As part of a longstanding relationship, its systems supplier, Traderman presented the concept of using Software as a Service (SaaS). SWGL was immediately impressed by this format and could see its potential to streamline operations and drive customer service levels. tmWare, the latest version of Tradermans Warehouse and Transport Management suite, is a web-based system which affords SWGL several key advantages.

Firstly, it creates a seamless flow of communication between SWGL and its customers. Customers are able to place orders on-line, often via EDI interchange, and access real-time status information regarding their distribution, warehousing and production operations, a particular benefit for SWGL's overseas customers operating in different time zones. This greater accessibility and visibility frees up valuable resource for both SWGL and its customers alike and enables greater focus on the core business activities in hand.

Furthermore, as the system is offered on demand, it is hosted remotely: therefore SWGL no longer needs to run and maintain a server in-house, again generating significant savings to the company in time, money and effort. The service-oriented method of On Demand fits in perfectly with SWGL's need for an added value operation for its customers. It is a user-friendly system with aesthetically pleasing screens, customised in SWGL's corporate colours and logo.

SWGL's business continues to go from strength to strength. It is able to attract new business because of its track record in delivering a top quality service to its customers and the professional image it portrays. This is due, is no small part, to the technology it employs, made possible by tmWare.
