Global Eyes was established in 2000 to provide a complete logistics solution for the aviation industry.
Through strategically placed network of UK bases at London Heathrow, Luton, Birmingham and Manchester Global Eyes are able to
provide unrivalled cover to support UK airline operations. Collections and deliveries are made on a scheduled service basis and include the
UK's major airports.
Through rapid success Global Eyes acquired some high profile customers within the aviation industry, which led to quick growth and further take up. The transport system in place could not cope with the volume of orders and did not have the sophistication to give up the up to the minute information that the customers were demanding. Data was lost and could easily become inaccurate, leaving customers concerned about their consignments. Global Eyes came across tmWare via the web in September 2008 and after the 1st meeting were enthused by the capabilities and flexibility of the system. This boded well for a good partnership to rapidly deploy a new system to strengthen customer confidence and exceed their expectation. The system needed to be web based to enable the customer to log in and place orders and schedule driven to enable the customer to book on the next available schedule slot. tmWare was able to deliver this and more! Due to the high value of aircraft parts. Global Eyes required an accurate methos to record and track their collections and deliveries. tmWare mobile POD offered barcode scanning and location tracking via comaptable handheld devices. For Global Eyes it was the perfect solution to close the gap on missing packages. The project was started in September 2008 with the first customers making orders via the web just weeks later. Customer confidence grew as they introduced more users to the new web booking system and were able to obtain instant information through reports made available to them. Phase 2 moved to the Mobile POD solution. The driver’s daily schedule is downloaded to the device on log in. Items for collection or delivery are then scanned by the driver. Warnings are flagged about invalid or duplicate items. The date, time and GPS position of each item is captured with each scan. This enables the customer and Global Eyes to see exactly on the map the last known location of that package. The driver also has the ability to query an item if if they suspect the item details are incorrect eg weight. Additionally, the device camera can be used to capture photographs of any items to assist in dispute resolution later. On completion the consignee signs the device and the driver enters the name for clarification. Transaction details are sent back to tmware and details are available immediately to report on. If the device drops out of a signal area, transaction details are stored data is resent when the signal is restored. Even without a signal a driver is still able to scan packages on his rounds. Andy Lambert, Operations Manager, Global Eyes said “It was important that the connectivity issues with devices didn’t hold the drivers back from getting on with the job at hand, tmWare has given us the flexibility and reliability that we were looking for” |
